Free hot springs data

• hot-springs.csv: one row per spring, for spreadsheets and mapping tools.
• hot-springs.json: the same data as JSON, for apps.
• hot-springs.geojson: map points, for QGIS, Mapbox, Leaflet or geojson.io.

Last updated 22 Oct 2026. The files are rebuilt every morning after the closure check, so the links always give you today's data.

What's in it

• Name, state, latitude and longitude for every spring we list.
• Type (natural, developed or resort), access (drive-up, or the hike distance) and fee (free or paid).
• Water temperature in °F, marked as pool temperatures or source water.
• Status: no closures reported, check before you go, or closed, with the reason, from our daily check of Forest Service closures, wildfire perimeters, National Weather Service warnings and National Park alerts.
• A link to the spring's page, with directions, rules and sources.

We only list springs where the public can legally soak. Private, closed-off and protected springs aren't included.

The data is free to use, share and adapt, including commercially, under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0. Please credit Hot Springs West with a link to hotspringswest.com, for example:

Good to know

• Conditions change fast. "No closures reported" means none of the feeds we check shows a problem, not a promise that a spring is open.
• Source water temperatures come from the NOAA thermal springs record; pool temperatures come from our research. Our page for each spring lists its sources.
• Photos aren't included, since each has its own licence. See photo credits.
