No closures reported
No closure, fire or weather warning found in Forest Service, wildfire (NIFC) or National Weather Service feeds. That isn't confirmation it's open.
Checked 14 Oct · updated daily
No closures or fire restrictions turned up in searches. In recent winters, enforcement of the winter vehicle rules on CR 36 has tightened and the road has been temporarily gated. Reservations are required for all pool visits, with walk-ups not allowed. Reservations open 30 days ahead.
The winter access road is icy and steep, and vehicles regularly get stuck and block it. The source water is about 147F, so the pools are mixed to cooler temperatures. The site is poorly lit after dark, so bring a flashlight or headlamp. A cold creek runs alongside the pools.
