The 2021 Tamarack Fire (about July 16, 2021) damaged the park and closed it fully. Day use reopened May 6, 2022. The pools reopened later, and the pools were closed for maintenance on one state park page. A Sept 2025 traveler review reported the pool closed on that visit. Check the state park page or call before going.
The pools close during nearby thunderstorms because of lightning risk. Spring water is cooled for the soaking pool, but the source springs are much hotter. The area was burned in the 2021 Tamarack Fire, so watch for hazard trees on trails.
