From our research, 18 Oct 2026

Checked Oct 2026: searches of Forest Service, recreation.gov and guide pages found no 2025 or 2026 closure, fire or emergency order for the site. A Forest Service project page says the bathhouse was temporarily stabilized to remain usable for 3 to 5 years, so confirm its condition with the Sitka Ranger District (907-747-6671) before going.

Know before you go

Brown bears are common on the beach, river and trail. Exposed Pacific coast with rough water and weather delays. Dry Pass Trail slough is passable only at low tide. Very remote with minimal emergency services; carry your own safety gear. Spring water emerges hot (reported near 135 F) and is mixed down, so test temperatures before entering.
