Checked 22 Oct · updated daily
Checked Oct 2026: no 2025-2026 closure or fire notices found; the town's official site and Alaska guides still list the bathhouse as open to the public with the same men's and women's schedule, run by a volunteer committee funded by donations.
Water is about 105 F, so limit soaks to 20 to 30 minutes. Bathhouse rules: clothing is not permitted in the tub, remove shoes, and rinse with soap and water before entering. Separate hours for men and women. Brown bears live in the surrounding forest, so carry bear spray on trails. Ferry and floatplane can be delayed by weather. Limited cell service. Not suited to families because of the nude-bathing rule.
