From our research, 17 Oct 2026

No closure order specific to Trego found for 2025-2026. The BLM bacteria advisory dated June 8, 2020 is still described as in effect by a current guide. Burning Man closures in 2026 affect only parts of the playa, not the Jungo Road route. The BLM Burning Man closure for 2026 runs July 30 to Oct 10 (Phase 1, about 3% of the playa) with a larger Phase 2 from Aug 24 to Sept 11, 2026; the rest of the playa stays open to dispersed recreation and the East and West Playa Highways stay open for through traffic only. Check playa conditions with Friends of Black Rock-High Rock in Gerlach before driving.

Know before you go

BLM issued a public health warning in June 2020 after the water tested positive for E. coli, fecal coliforms and Vibrio cholerae, and advises avoiding all contact with the water. The source reaches about 187 F and is dangerously hot. Active railroad tracks run nearby, there is no cell service and emergency help is hours away. Pack out all waste.
